When You Think Montana Grizzlies, Think Griz for Kids on Saturday

A warm and wonderful tradition only succeeds with the generous help of Grizzly football fans.

And that's what the team is counting this Saturday, November 9. Not only is it a huge game, it's an opportunity for all of us to make Christmas a bit merrier for children in need.

The University of Montana's annual Griz for Kids Toy Drive is this Saturday at Washington-Grizzly Stadium. Amid the hoopla pitting 7th-ranked Montana against 4th-ranked UC Davis at 8:15 p.m., we are helping spread the word about what you can do to help the Griz with another successful drive, as fans have been doing since 2005.

The Griz for Kids Toy Drive kicks off the season of giving each year at a Grizzly football game. The Drive was inspired by UM Grizzly football player Chris Orwig who said the entire team felt incredible fan support from the community and he wanted to find a way to give back. Chris helped organize the first toy drive at a Griz game 19 years ago, and the University of Montana and Grizzly Athletics have continued to support it.

Bring a new, unwrapped toy or toys to the game. Besides toys, crafts, books, games and other items that will put smiles on children's faces are good, too. The recipients' age range is from infant to 17 years old.

Volunteers will be set up at every entrance to the stadium 1-2 hours prior to kickoff collecting donated toys. AND IF YOU PREFER OR SIMPLY FORGOT TO BRING TOYS, CASH DONATIONS WILL ALSO BE ACCEPTED. 

And the Griz for Kids Toy Drive doesn't have to end at kickoff of Saturday's game. There will still be options to make donations online via the Griz for Kids website here.
