The presence of opioid, meth and alcohol abuse has reached deep into Montana, including Ravalli County. Hamilton's Sapphire Community Health Center is conducting a public summit all day Friday, July 27, at the Bitterroot College. The free sessions start at 9 a.m. Friday and the summit should wrap up about 3 p.m. Many of the speakers will talk of how drug abuse, including opioids and meth, affect the Bitterroot Valley. Presenters include:

  • Bobbie Perkins, Bureau Chief, Addictive & Mental Disorders of the Montana Department of Health and Human Services
  • Kari Auclair, Director of Montana Mental Health Services
  • Dr. Brett Bender, Chief Medical Officer of Sapphire Community Health in Hamilton.
