Montana Is Less Than Six Months Away From Recreational Marijuana
There are still many things that need to get done before the first recreational sale of marijuana can happen in the state of Montana but we are on the right track.
Back in November of 2020, Montana voted enthusiastically for the legalization of recreational sales of marijuana under I-190. Even though the plans were to have sales start in October of 2021, that has been pushed back to January 1st, 2022.
The reasons behind the delay and why recreational marijuana has taken so long to be real in Montana is because they needed to make sure everything was covered. From legal age to taxes and making sure all the laws and regulations are perfect. Montana wants to make sure they have all their bases covered.
Just to let you know, there will be differences between folks looking for recreational marijuana and people who have a medical card for medicinal marijuana. For instance, recreational marijuana will have a twenty percent tax when you buy but if you have a medical card, the taxes on the marijuana will only be four percent.
As we get closer and closer to 2022 there will be more news coming out about recreational marijuana from the laws, to how much you can buy, and more. We will definitely keep you updated on all the news that will be coming out of the state of Montana as they prep for the start of recreational use of marijuana.
So again, you won't be able to buy marijuana recreationally at any dispensary in Montana till January 1st, 2022.
