Cheers For Montana Grizzly Football Star’s Cornish Recognition

The "Canadian Spider" has landed in a very prestigious web.

That nickname, bestowed upon him because of his great pass catching abilities, will hopefully be earned at the professional level, too. Those Canadian connections could pay dividends.

University of Montana Football Sports Information Director Eric Taber tells us that Griz wide receiver Keelan White, a native of North Vancouver, B.C., received an honorable mention for the 2024 Jon Cornish Trophy, presented annually to the most outstanding Canadian student-athlete in NCAA football.

Keelan is one of only four honorable mention awards, along with five finalists. The award is named after University of Kansas and CFL star Jon Cornish. And from walk-on to star, he certainly left his mark in the Griz record books.

Coming to Montana as a walk-on in 2019, Keelan made 41 starts and a school record 57 appearances. He graduated with 161 career catches, 11th in program history. His 1,862 receiving yards and 14 touchdown receptions are also in the Griz top 25. And no touchdown is more memorable than the school record 97-yard catch and run against Sacramento State in 2023. He was Montana's offensive MVP in 2023 and capped his senior year at UM with another team-high performance, leading the Griz with 628 yards on 57 catches and four TDs to average just over 11 yards per catch and 48 yards per game,   landing him among the Big Sky Conference's 15 best receivers in 2024.

Ranked number 10 in the preseason top 20 Canadians eligible for the 2025 Canadian Football League 2025 draft, we wish a Griz football hero, the Canadian Spider, Keelan White, a tremendous CFL combine coming up in March.
