Missoula’s Guide To Pumpkin Spice Lattes: Good Americano
We're not stopping until we've tried them all: every single pumpkin spice latte in Missoula. While it may seem like a task that would make even Sisyphus give up, it's way more delicious, less labor-intensive, and a drinking a PSL has a way better chance of brightening your day than pushing a big stupid rock up a big stupid mountain ever will.

I, a doubter that pumpkin spiced-anything has any tangible value in this modern weird world, have committed to trying one pumpkin spice latte from every coffee shop in Missoula. Granted, there's several stands that are run by the same companies (we'll get to those later) so for the sake of simplicity the rules are still the same:
- I'll tell you the price of a 12oz PSL
- what it's made of
- how it tasted
Good Americano sits on S Reserve St on the west side of the Rosauer's parking lot. It's easily visible from the main drag, and if you're having a drag of a day you're welcome to stop by.
Looking at the menu, their flavored lattes are by far the least expensive in Missoula, in some cases $1/drink cheaper. For the prices I've encountered, check out the links at the bottom of the article. The 12oz PSL here was $4.00 + a tip.

When I asked if they were made with a syrup or a puree, the baristas happily showed me what they were working with:

You can say what you want about pumpkin spiced lattes, and I've said plenty, but there's something inherently satisfying in knowing your cup of autumn joy contains actual pumpkin goodness. Customers with different taste preferences can debate simple syrup PSLs versus ones with the puree all they want, I know how I like mine.
The drink I was served came in this cool black cup with a black lid...just like my heart.
As far as the taste, Good Americano nailed the "This tastes like I'm drinking a pumpkin pie" experience. Not too much cinnamon or nutmeg. It was as close to perfect as I've tasted yet.
Served up with a smile.
Even though I'm a regular black coffee guy on the daily, I think I'm coming around to the idea that adding a little joy into your life is the antidote to crappy days that blend into each other.
