Just before 11:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Missoula Police officers were driving through a casino parking lot in the 3300 block of North Reserve Street. According to Police Public Information Officer Travis Welsh, they recognized a vehicle that was associated with a known drug offender and they also knew that he was on probation.

“The officers entered the casino and did in fact locate the subject they were looking for,” Welsh said. “They determined that he was in violation of his conditions of probation by being in the casino. They also learned that there was a female present that he was associated with. She was also on probation and violating conditions of release by being in the casino. They were escorted outside and were identified as 40-year-old Dustin McGough and 42-year-old Misty Liberti.”

Welsh says the police officers contacted the couple’s probation officers. The probation officers authorized a search of McGough, Liberti and their vehicle.

“The officers located items commonly used to ingest narcotics and a substance that was later determined to be heroin,” Welsh said. “The two people were placed under arrest. One of the charges is criminal distribution of dangerous drugs. That is due to some of the paraphernalia that was located, the amount of the drug and the fact that McGough was carrying a large amount of cash.”

According to court documents, McGough was found with $4,800 cash in his pocket. Officers also located about 6.5 grams of heroin in the trunk of the vehicle. According to Missoula Deputy County Attorney Jennifer Clark, this amount of heroin and the large sum of money McGough had on his person was indicative of drug distribution.
