With the gray, snowless weather we've had for the holidays in 2024, you might be feeling a little cabin fever.

Arts Missoula is once more jumping in to help you shake off the "blahs" and get the New Year off to an active start, while celebrating the Garden City's active arts scene.

Plus, the organization says it's good for Missoula's economy when we show support for the arts.

Continuing a tradition

Missoula has a long history of supporting the arts, especially to ring in the New Year. A recent report by SMU Data Arts recognized Missoula as the 7th most vibrant medium-sized community for the arts.

Arts Missoula's economic study shows that every ticket or event attended generates $29 back into Missoula through shopping, dining, services, and revenue for local artists.

A couple of years back, the New Year's tradition morphed into "Missoula on Main!" That's brought an even stronger lineup of events to enjoy New Year's Eve.

What's planned for Missoula on Main!

Events started Monday afternoon and will continue right up through New Year's Eve, with activities all over town, including MCT, the Missoula Public Library, Dennison Theater, ZACC and other locations.

Dance events include interactive experiences with Tango Connections Missoula, Missoula Folklore Society, Turning the Wheel Family Romp, and the Dance Showcase Performance.

For music, the schedule includes the Spotlight Teen Singing Competition, plus performances by Skyscapes and Soundwaves, Missoula Symphony, All City Jazz, Big Sky Light, Drum Brothers class and performance, and Absent Wilson Conspiracy.

If you'd like a little time to reflect on the year past and the year to come, try Commit to Eccentricity with Taylor Stein, Poetry with Clark Fork Prep, Makers Space, Luminaria Making, Art Box Family Crafts, Zero Waste Mosaic, and Tarot Card Reading.

Try something different

There are also plenty of options to expand your cultural knowledge with Buck Hitswithastick, Gamelan Manik Harum, Quartet Caribe, Chutzpah, Celtic Dragon Pipe and Highland Dancers, and Kung Fu Movies!

For the big countdown

New Year's Eve events including a drag show at the ZACC, a substance free dance with Recovery Palooza or catching the Ed Norton Big Band for the Roarin' 20’s Ball!
