"We want every kid in town to be able to come out, watch our team play and feel like they're part of the program."

Those are the words of University of Montana Grizzly head football coach Bobby Hauck, as excitement mounts for the Griz spring game on Saturday, April 14. Montana football has always been fun for the whole family, but this year the Grizzly Scholarship Association and the Griz are teaming up to make the 2018 spring game a full day of events for kids of all ages.

Kickoff is at 1:00. As we reported earlier, activities get underway at 11:00 with the Grizzly Scholarship Association tailgate party at their site across from the north end of Washington-Grizzly Stadium. Food and beverages will be available and the kids can play in the bouncy house and say hello to Monte the mascot.

And the latest! Immediately following the spring game kids of all ages are invited onto the field to participate in 30 minutes of football drills with the team, including hitting the tackling dummies, catching passes, ladders, field goal contests and more.  The afternoon will be capped off with an autograph session with the players.

The game itself will consist of four 10-minute quarters, offense vs. defense. And a special surprise at halftime!

It sounds like a pretty great day for only $5 per ticket, available at the gate or in advance at the Adams Center ticket office, Paradise Falls, Red's Bar, Universal Athletics, Stockman's Bar and the Press Box. Proceeds benefit the GSA.

The extended Missoula weather outlook for April 14 is mostly cloudy but only a very slight chance of any showers and a high near 55. I think we're looking pretty good to get out and get fired up about Montana Grizzly football 2018. Sure hope to see you there.

Our thanks to Eric Taber in the UM Sport Info Department for the latest updates.
