When I lifted the small crate she was in, I expected there would be a little more weight.

But when the fur-to-body-mass ratio is a bit askew, well, that can fool an amateur rabbit handler such as myself. But it sure doesn't diminish how adorable she is and how much she needs a good new home.

It was another Take Me Home Tuesday at the radio stations with the Humane Society of Western Montana, presented by Paul's Pancake Parlor of Missoula. Janet introduced us to Nellie, a Netherland Dwarf rabbit, one of the smallest rabbit breeds. And her story is not uncommon.

This adorable ball of fur was brought home by parents for a child. The child lost interest, so the parents gave Nellie up to the shelter. Even though she is a bit scared coming into a new environment, she is a very sweet bunny, loves to be held and cuddled and is already about 50/50 litter box trained.

ARES!

Janet also wanted to put in a good word for Ares, a beautiful German shepherd mix. He is very big (120 pounds) and long. While not a cat fan, Ares is very sweet and loving and would do well on a farm or ranch or a residence with at least a little acreage. Ares is about 3 years old, neutered and ready for his forever home.

The show takes place Friday, January 31, at the Wilma Theater in Missoula. Scheduled to perform are a Rob Quist Trio, Missoula's "gut bucket blues band" Mudslide Charley and the ever-popular Joan Zen Band.
