Despite Social Media Rumor, Spirit Halloween Stores Plan to Open
I saw a post on a friend's Facebook page last night where they were saying how bummed they were that Spirit Halloween stores wouldn't be opening this year because of COVID-19 concerns. It looked pretty legit - they had a link to a story and everything. I checked into it today and initially found another article with the same story. But as I read through it, they had an update in the story that said they had been fooled by a phony letter that was making the rounds on social media.
It seems a lot of people had seen the fake letter online and many were tagging Spirit Halloween in their posts to ask if it was true that they wouldn't open this year. Spirit's social media pages replied to a few posts and said they would have some "spooky news" on Friday (today.) The good news for candy seekers, party goers, and costume wearers, is that Spirit Halloween stores say they will indeed be open this year.
Phew! It looks like we'll still be able to visit the haunted wonderland of Spirit Halloween stores in search of fun, funny, and scary costumes.......
We'll cross our fingers that by the time fall rolls around we'll still be able to have Spirit Halloween open their stores like they plan. A lot can change over the course of a couple months - as we've all seen. We want to believe that the upcoming school year won't be affected, sports will return, and Halloween will be able to be enjoyed........but the reality is Montana just reported its largest single-day total for COVID-19 cases yesterday.
How many little Joe Exotics do you think you'll see knocking on your door this year?
