Have you seen this? Are you aware of the atrocity that is going to slap us in the face this holiday season? A live remake of “The Sound of Music” will be shown on NBC on December 5. This is just wrong. You can’t and don’t remake perfection.

To add insult to injury, there will be no Julie Andrews to star in this classic remake. I pity the fool who tries to even come close to the beloved Ms. Andrews. For no one can compare. She is in a class all her own.

Carrie Underwood is set to play Maria (Julie Andrews’ role) in the remake. Carrie honey, we love you, but you are no Julie Andrews and I fear this may be worse for your career than better.

What are the powers that be at NBC thinking? Do they really think the blasphemy of a beloved classic is really a great way to say, “Happy Holidays?” Whoever thought this was a great idea should be tarred and feathered live on national TV.

Hey, I have a great idea, let’s remake “Gone with the Wind,” “Forrest Gump” or “Silence of the Lambs.” I’m sorry but you don't mess with a good thing, no matter how hard up you’re getting for new plots and story lines.

However, I guess there is a chance that it could go well. I mean look at these great remakes “Planet of the Apes,”  “Footloose” and “Psycho.” These may have seemed like a good idea to remake at the time, but I think they only prove my point that if it's not broke then don't fix it.

I have to admit that I could be wrong. It does happen. Almost never, but it does happen. So I have to tell Carrie good luck because she’s going to need it. To NBC I have to say just one word. Why?
