The landscape has changed since students departed in mid-December. But when you're a Griz, you just say, "Bring on the brrrr!"

The tail end of winter's first arctic blast is greeting University of Montana students, in preparation for spring semester, starting this Thursday, January 18. And there's the usual amount of outdoor mirth to greet them during the first month of classes.

UM News Service tells us that from the rink to the Ball to the N7 to the Magic Flute, there is plenty on the agenda to get the semester started. Students are settling in ahead of the annual UM Spring Commencement ceremonies on May 11.

Events for the first month of the spring semester include:

>The annual outdoor ice rink on the UM Oval. All skaters are welcome.

>Iron Griz Community Ski Night, hosted by the Iron Griz American Bistro and the Missoula Nordic Ski Club, 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 30 at the Iron Griz.

>The 105th Foresters’ Ball, 7:00 p.m. both Friday and Saturday, February 2-3, at Schreiber Gym. OPEN TO THE PUBLIC! Ticket info here.
