Ahh, Spring. When the birds and bees start frolicking and people get the urge to marry themselves. Wait, What? Yup, you heard right, people (known as sologamists) are marrying themselves. Nadine Schweigert made headlines when she married herself earlier this month in Fargo, but she’s not the only one walking down the aisle alone. A woman using the monicker Encouraging Priestess is helping others to marry themselves too. There’s even an educational video on the subject complete with sample vows. Some applaud the idea of self-marriage as a route to empowerment and self-fulfillment. Others sympathize with Mrs. Schweigert’s son who, according to Fargo’s Inforum Newspaper, told his mom “I love you, but I’m embarrassed for you right now” after hearing about the wedding plans.

So far, only countries in Africa officially recognize sologamy, but should others start to do the same? We want to know what you think.
