This week, November 20, the Montana Board of Regents will meet to discuss a variety of issues including the state's falling university enrollment numbers. One of the main topics will be the Complete College Montana Program, which hopes to increase graduation rates.
Montana's Jobs for Graduates program was ranked number one in the nation this week. Montana Department of Labor and Industry spokeswoman Casey Kyler-West said the program has proven to have a long list of positive outcomes.
Montana Gear Up, a program designed to increase the number of first generation and low income students to attend college, is teaming up with MAPS Media Institute, (Media Arts in Public Schools) to create a short video during a summer camp going on this week in St. Ignatius.
Enrollment is quite literally the lifeblood of a university system and over the past year Montana's two big public universities, Montana State University and the University of Montana have very different stories to tell when it comes to new enrollment.
