Some figures for 2014 have been released, and things aren't real fizzy for the soda industry. They indicate that for the 10th year in a row, Americans bought less soda in 2014. And diet sodas dropped even more than the regular ones. I have to admit I don't drink nearly as much pop as I used to, and I guess I'm right in line with the Beverage Digest findings, that there was another 0.9 percent drop. Not great news for the industry, but at least it wasn't as drastic as the 3-percent drop in 2013.

If you need a sneak peak at the leader board, even though people bought less Pepsi, it did regain the No. 2 spot from Diet Coke, which suffered an even steeper decline. Coke remains the No. 1 soda in the U.S.

Lots more choices these days, huh?  DB
