Century-Old Logs Put To Use
I drive out to Bonner several times a day and always wonder when the logs in the Blackfoot River will be pulled out. Since the dam was removed and the water level is now drastically lower, hundreds of old mill logs line the banks and bottom of the Blackfoot River. It's nice to see someone taking care of the logs in Flathead Lake.
New Fishing Website
The Montana State Library and Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks teamed up to launch a new website designed to help anglers find the basic information they need for a successful fishing season.
National Forest Workshop
A national forest workshop begins today in Seeley Lake to help Montanans and Montana companies win positions in our national forests. Most of the work will be by contract and will take place in the Lolo, Helena, and Flathead National Forests.
Free Park Week
Next week is National Parks Week. Most of the roads aren't even plowed in the national parks in Montana, but hey its free. But hang on, you will get another chance to visit free of charge at a later date.
World’s Oldest Man Dies
Walter Breuning will be remembered not only as the world's oldest man but a Montanan who lived a life well spent.
Officials at a Montana retirement home say the world's oldest man has died.
Walter Breuning was 114, making him the oldest man and the second-oldest person in the world.
Global Grizzlies Event
The Global Grizzlies, a student-run nonprofit group at The University of Montana, will host a banquet and silent auction Friday, April 15, to raise money for a humanitarian trip to Mongolia.
The Global Grizzlies is out to make a difference in the world. The group provides aid to developing countries as humanitarian ambassadors from UM.
Tech’s “M” Vandalized
The lighted "M" overlooking Montana Tech on Butte's north side will be dark for a while after someone shot out all 120 light bulbs over the weekend.
Montana Tech spokeswoman Amanda Badovinac says .22-caliber bullet casings were found on the ground at the base of the "M," which was constructed by Tech students in 1910.
