My wife picked up this book and passed it on to me after she was done saying it was pretty good. She didn't tell me it involved smokejumpers, a couple of small fictional Montana towns, characters that you felt like you've met and a good story line. Stephen Frey's Hell's Gate is a good book.

It's fire season in Big Sky Country and some one is setting them. Along comes a New York lawyer fleeing the rat race. He likes the town, Ft Mason, and the locals like him.  Following his instincts the lawyer uncovers a plot that proves the forest fires aren't accidental. It's a good mystery with lots of local interest. Not  a difficult read but a fun one.
