23 year-old Jody Standingrock was arrested late Friday evening after allegedly burglarizing a church, and stealing several items, including a television.

Missoula Police Department Public Information Officer, Sergeant Travis Welsh said the call came in just after 8:00 p.m. on Friday.

“We got a call from a church in the 1900 block of North Avenue West reporting that an unknown woman had been in the church and was ransacking cupboards and apparently looking for items, then reported that they were missing a TV,” said Welsh.

The church staff provided a description of the suspect.

“They described the female as an adult in her early 20’s with dark curly hair, about 5 feet six inches tall wearing leggings and Griz apparel and a brown shaggy coat,” he said. “Officers looked in the area and soon received a call from a resident in the 1900 block of Kensington that an unknown female had walked into her home without invitation and was still there. Officers responded and discovered that the woman matched the description of the suspect from the church, and arrested 23 year-old Jody Standingrock.”

Welsh said the resident on Kensington did not press charges, but the church did and she is in the Missoula County Jail charged with felony burglary.”

Standingrock is in custody on $50,000 bail.

Standingrock was also arrested last June on theft charges, and again in January for possession of methamphetamine.
