U.S Capitol Christmas Tree Will Visit Missoula

A big Montana tree has got a long road trip planned, so it's going to make a stop in Missoula for a hug.

Every year, a different national forest is selected to provide a Christmas tree to appear on the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C. This year, a tree in the Kootenai National Forest in northwest Montana made the cut. Yep, a hack from the Yaak.

If you want to see what it takes for a tree to be Capitol-worthy, stop by Southgate Mall in Missoula on Wednesday, November 15 at 6:00 p.m. Festivities include free gifts for kids, the arrival of Santa, dance performances and photo opportunities. Southgate Mall is one of about 15 stops the tree will be making during its 2,000+-mile journey to the U.S. Capitol for its official lighting in early December.
