The National Weather Service is forecasting snow and much colder temperatures for western Montana starting as soon as Wednesday evening, according meteorologist Luke Robinson.
Western Montana had lots of snow in the high country last winter with the La Nina pattern that dominated the northwest, but the opposite is expected for this winter.
So far, the winter of 2017-2018 has been significantly warmer than the winter of 2016-2017, according to the National Weather Service Office in Missoula.
A big change in the weather is coming this week. Several major arctic fronts will be moving into northwestern Montana starting Wednesday, according to National Weather Service meteorologist Jen Kitzmiller.
