It’s looking like this weekend is shaping up to be the first real shot of spring weather we’re going to get this year. As far as I’m concerned, this calls for a celebration. What better way is there to do that than by kicking back in a lawn chair, soaking up the sun and sipping on a refreshing spring beverage.

The long, record-setting winter of 2013-2014 may finally be in the rear-view mirror permanently after Tuesday.

It seems like months since we’ve seen grass (maybe because it has been). Now that the green stuff has finally appeared, we should take advantage of it. I know I’ve been dreaming of this day for quite some time now. Don’t get me wrong, I love winter and the snow, just not so much of it and not for quite as long as we had it this year.

Yes, I know it’s still February, but I just can’t help myself. I desperately want spring to make its appearance. I am growing weary of the below zero temperatures for a week, followed by high 30 degree temperatures. The snowy, icy, wet and slushy roads are starting to drive me crazy, literally.

Now that spring is officially less than a week away, the National Weather Service has revealed some interesting statistics about the winter of 2012.

You could almost sense it; the days are getting longer, the early calves are on the ground, and there’s a certain scent to the early morning air. Yep, Spring is arriving.
