Families are the focus of Stevensville's annual Creamery Picnic. For 106 years, the summer celebration has been bringing the folks to town. Originally, it was a gift to the citizens who helped rebuilt a creamery that was destroyed by fire. Hard work brought John Howe's business back to operation in a month. He hosted a picnic to celebrate. Free ice cream was part of that event and has continued each year. Saturday, August 4, the kids will get free ice cream at 1 p.m. But that's only part of the two day festival.

Friday night is the Kiddie Parade, starting at Veterans Park at 6:30 p.m. and Saturday is the Grand Parade on Main Street, starting at 11 a.m. Music is a big part of the weekend, with Casey and Shari Austin on the Entertainment Stage Friday at 4:30 p.m. and the Family Fun Dance at 7 p.m. with "Ponder the Albatross." Saturday's music includes Charla Bauman and Lawrence Hammond at 12 noon on the Entertainment stage, the Bitterroot Community Band at Lewis and Clark Park at 1 p.m., Malarkey on the stage at 2:30 p.m., followed by the Family Fun Dance at 5 p.m. with "Double Down Band" and "Lolo Creek Band."

Throughout each day, arts, crafts, food booths and store sales will be happening throughout Stevensville. Saturday morning, the Milk Run 5K will start at 8 a.m. and the 1-mile Family fun run starts at 8:10. A Saturday Farmers Market will run from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Creamery Picnic Brew Fest will be 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and 12 noon to 11 p.m. Saturday. There will be kids games, Soccer Knocker ball games, horse drawn wagon rides and tours of St. Mary's Mission. Saturday at 2 p.m. see the All Valley Fire Department Challenge and Keg Shoot and a Greased Pig Race will be fun viewing at 6 p.m.

A great response for volunteer and sponsor help made this year's Creamery Picnic happen. The organizers thank all who helped make it happen.
