Stephanie Land is a Missoula author who recently released a book called Maid: Hard Work, Low Pay and a Mother's Will to Survive. It was a pretty immediate success - it debuted at number 3 on the New York Times Bestseller List and received a ton of critical acclaim. And it looks like that success isn't going to stop any time soon.

Word just came out today that Netflix is actually adapting Maid into a new series, developing a full season and turning it into a female-driven dramedy. Molly Smith Metzler, a writer on Orange is the New Black, is going to be the showrunner behind the show, and Margot Robbie (one of my favorite actresses working today, most recently seen in Once Upon A Time in Hollywood) is helping to produce it.

The show will be about a single mother who turns to housekeeping to try to make ends meet, and promises to be an exploration on what it's like living in poverty in America. The book comes from Land's own experiences, so it's a pretty incredible success story to see her come from that and move into getting a Netflix series.

Have you read Maid yet? Will you be checking out this new Netflix show?
