Just before 5:00 a.m. on Wednesday, Missoula police responded to the report of a disturbance at a residence in the 4000 block of Mullan Road. Police Public Information Officer Travis Welsh explains.

“When they arrived, they made contact with an adult female who stated she had been in an ongoing verbal and physical disturbance with 30-year-old Robert Cloutier,” Welsh said. “The female reported that she attempted to get the male to leave her residence, but he refused.”

After further investigation, Welsh says officers determined that Cloutier assaulted the woman and a child in the residence.

“The argument escalated into a physical confrontation where Mr. Cloutier is reported to have pushed the female down a couple of times and also placed a 14-year-old child in a headlock that reduced the child’s ability to breath normally,” Welsh said.

Cloutier is currently being held for felony aggravated assault and misdemeanor assault.
