Missoula Weekly Crime Report: Meth and Violence Continue to Dominate

The Missoula County Attorney’s Office charged 14 new criminal complaints this week. According to County Attorney Kirsten Pabst, five of those cases were drug crimes.

“They were all methamphetamine cases, but one was a meth second offense and another one involved tampering with evidence,” Pabst said. “In the property crimes category, we charged two individuals. There was an embezzlement from an employer as well as an allegation that a defendant took a 2006 Lincoln from a car lot. An employee of the car lot followed her and called 911. She was arrested.”

Pabst said her office also charged one felony DUI. In that particular case, the defendant was allegedly passed out behind the wheel of his car.

“One of the six interpersonal violent crimes involved a charge of partner or family member assault third offense, intimidation, and violation of a no contact order,” Pabst said. “The allegation was that he attempted to contact her 32 times in one hour after receiving a no contact order. In another, the defendant was charged with aggravated burglary, PFMA second, criminal mischief, burglary, obstructing a peace officer, and resisting arrest.”

In one other case, a defendant was charged with assault with a weapon, partner or family member assault, and assault causing bodily injury. The victim in the assault was a friend who was attempting to assist a victim. The weapon was allegedly a ten-pound weight.
