Missoula Resident Catches Burglar Red-Handed

At around 10:30 Saturday morning, Missoula police received a call about a burglary in progress at a residence in the 1900 block of Idaho Street. According to Police Public Information Officer Travis Welsh, the homeowner caught the suspect red handed.

“The male complainant reported that he had come home and discovered an unknown male inside his residence,” Welsh said. “The complainant observed the male carrying property out of the residence. The complainant kept an eye on the suspect while the officers were en route. The officers made contact with the suspect. They placed him under arrest after they discovered that he was in possession of items from the residence that belonged to the complainant. The suspect was identified as 50-year-old Rickey Burns.”

Burns was transported to the Missoula County Detention Center where he is currently being held for felony burglary.
