Missoula Police on the Hunt for Man in Greenough Park Attack

Missoula police are searching for a man who allegedly struck a woman in the back of her head with a rock while she was jogging in Greenough Park on Saturday at about 7:20 p.m.

The woman says it was a man she didn't recognize. He jumped on her, pinning her to the ground after throwing a rock at her head.

She started kicking and screaming, and that's when he decided to run off.

The woman suffered minor injuries to the back of her head.

The park is well known for its dense greenery, trees and bushes. It’s an area that police say could be dangerous at night time.

Police say you should pick a location that is wide open if you are going to
jog.

"People need to think about the location that they are going to run. They need to make sure they are familiar with it. Make sure somebody knows where they are going. If the light goes down and they are by themselves in the dark, you should be prepared with some kind of light source and also reflective clothing," said Travis Welsh, with the Missoula Police Department.

The suspect is described as a male who may be 18 to 20 years old, with short blond hair, wearing a red athletic shirt with white stitching.
