Monday at about 4:40 p.m. A Missoula police officer was involved in a shooting incident.

According to Missoula Police spokesman Travis Welsh, officers responded to the report of suspicious activity at the intersection of North 2nd Street and A Street.

The person who reported the incident said that drug activity may have been occurring in or near a recreational vehicle that was parked there.

During the encounter between the suspects and Missoula police officers, shots were fired.

There was no information in a police department press release as to whether or not anyone was wounded or killed by the gunfire, however it was reported by the Missoulian newspaper that Welsh said no officers were wounded.

Welsh said investigation into the incident has been turned over to the Montana Department of Justice Division of Criminal Investigation.
