At around 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, the University of Montana Police Department attempted to stop a vehicle for a stop sign violation. The vehicle attempted to flee and successfully eluded officers. Sergeant Rick Stevenson explains.

“They were unable to find him,” Stevenson said. “Missoula PD was involved in the pursuit as well. They picked up the chase and found him. They followed him to the point where he abandoned his vehicle and initiated a foot pursuit. Officers followed and were eventually able to take him into custody. During this initial vehicle pursuit, he traveled through multiple properties causing damage to multiple persons property. He resisted officer’s attempts to take him into custody, but he was eventually subdued.”

According to court documents, several people called 911 and said a vehicle was driving through yards and fences. They also said the vehicle was driving the wrong way on various roads. One caller said she was almost struck by the vehicle while she was driving. Multiple witnesses said the vehicle almost hit a bicyclist. The officers eventually identified 53-year-old Douglas Price. Mr. Price was arrested for felony criminal mischief, felony criminal endangerment, fleeing from officers, obstructing officers and resisting arrest.
