22 year-old Nick Myers of Missoula is in the County Jail charged with Partner or Family Member Assault and felony strangulation.

Missoula Police spokesman Travis Welsh said officers responded late Friday night to a disturbance in the 800 block of Stephens Avenue.

“Witnesses and callers indicated they could hear a woman screaming for help and asking people asking people to call 9-1-1, and also a baby crying,” said Welsh. “The first officer at the scene saw an individual later identified as Nick Myers running from the scene. The officer chased him down and caught him in an adjacent yard, only to find that this was the male involved in the disturbance.”

Welsh said the woman showed signs of being strangled.

“The other officers who responded spoke to the female who indicated that during the course of an argument that escalated quickly, Mr. Meyers attempted to strangle her and said he had caused minor damage to her neck,” he said. “There was also a nine month-old infant that was being held during the disturbance, but appeared to be OK. Mr. Meyers is currently being held on a charge of strangulation of a partner or family member, which is a felony, partner or family member assault, obstructing a peace officer, criminal trespass to property, a misdemeanor charge of criminal contempt as well as some outstanding charges.”

Myers was scheduled to appear in Missoula Justice Court on Monday.
