35 year-old Ryan Charlo was arrested on Thursday and charged with DUI, in addition to felony criminal child endangerment after being pulled over with an 11 year-old child in the back seat.

Court records indicate that Charlo was pulled over after allegedly driving recklessly on South 4th Street West when he cut off another vehicle, almost causing a crash.

Missoula Police Public Information Officer Travis Welsh described the traffic stop.

“The officer made contact with the 35 year-old driver identified as 35 year-old Ryan Charlo. Mr. Charlo was arrested for DUI as well as criminal child endangerment,” said Welsh. “The officer discovered there was an 11 year-old child in the back seat of the car at the time that Mr. Charlo was driving intoxicated.”

Welsh said Charlo was then arrested.

“He was transported to the Missoula County Jail and was arraigned on charges in Missoula Justice Court on Friday,” he said. Welsh was asked about the disposition of a child found to be in the vehicle of a suspected drunk driver. “Typically, the child would be turned over to the other parent or guardian, or a relative that would be willing to come and take custody of the child.”

Charlo was also charged with driving with a suspended license.
