At around 10:00 Monday night, Missoula police officers were following up on a reported theft that had occurred earlier. Police Public Information Officer Travis Welsh explains.

“The report led them to an address in the 2500 block of Mount Avenue where they encountered 49-year-old William Matt,” Welsh said. “Officers learned that Mr. Matt had an outstanding warrant for his arrest and he was taken into custody. During the course of the arrest, they also found out that he was in possession of a small amount of a substance that was later determined to be methamphetamine.”

According to Welsh, officers took Matt into custody and he was transported to the Missoula County Jail. Matt is currently being held for his warrant and for criminal possession of dangerous drugs.
