Missoula, MT (KGVO-AM News) - On April 15, 2025, a Missoula Police Department Officer was informed of a text message that was sent to 911 reporting a disturbance at the Montana Rail Link Park. The message said, “There were two dudes one of them was laying on the ground and the other was hitting the dude laying on the ground.” The text further provided a more precise location, stating it was “at the back of the park closest to the bike trail.”

The officer responded to the area and observed one male and two females seated near the fence. All three individuals identified themselves, including 38-year-old Dana Schick. The officer noticed that the other two individuals were seated along the fence with Schick seated approximately three feet away, leaning against a utility box.

While speaking with the group, the officer observed a glass pipe with a bulbous end lying on the ground next to Schick. After directing Schick to move away from the pipe, the officer observed a torch-style lighter on the ground where she had been seated. The pipe and lighter were collected by another officer who had arrived as backup.

The officer requested consent to search Schick’s person for any additional drugs or paraphernalia. Schick gave consent and disclosed that she had another meth pipe tucked in her waistband and methamphetamine in the small front pocket of her pants. During the consent search, the officer located the pipe in Schick’s waistband. The officer also retrieved a small amount of toilet paper from Schick’s front pocket. Wrapped inside the toilet paper, the officer located a clear plastic baggie containing methamphetamine.

The officer read Schick her Miranda rights, which she waived, and agreed to speak. According to court documents, Schick stated she obtained the meth from a male at the nearby shelter. Schick said the male brought the meth to the shelter, and it was shared around because the shelter had been “dry,” referring to a recent lack of drug availability. Schick further admitted to smoking methamphetamine.

Schick was placed under arrest and was transported to the Missoula County Detention Center. She is currently being charged with felony criminal possession of dangerous drugs and criminal possession of drug paraphernalia.
