Missoula, MT (KGVO-AM News) - On October 31st, 2022, at approximately 5:12 a.m., a woman called 911 to report that her vehicle was stolen from a casino parking lot on West Broadway. The complainant said that she last saw her vehicle parked in the parking lot at around 3:00 a.m.

At approximately 2:50 p.m. on the same day, Missoula Police Department officers were dispatched to Washburn Street and 10th Street for a welfare check. The 911 caller had reported that there were two unconscious individuals parked at that intersection. Police Public Information Officer Lydia Arnold picks up the story.

“A person called 911 to report people passed out in a vehicle in a local neighborhood,” Arnold said. “On scene, officers located the vehicle and the vehicle came back as stolen. Officers contacted the female in the driver's seat and identified her as Brittany Neely. Under Miranda, Neely told officers she drove off with the vehicle.”

Neely said that she knew the owner of the vehicle, but did not know the vehicle was reported stolen. Neely stated that some other people told her to take the vehicle because no-one knew where the owner was at. Neely also said that the vehicle had been unlocked and the keys were left inside when it was parked at the casino.

“Officers observed indicators of drug use, pills, and a powdered substance suspected of being Fentanyl,” Arnold said. “The vehicle was seized and pending a search warrant. This case is still under investigation with the Missoula Police Department Detective Division.”

Neely is currently being charged with one count of felony theft.
