Missoula Drug Bust: Woman Caught With Meth and Fentanyl

Missoula, MT (KGVO-AM News) - On September 15, 2024, Missoula Police Department Officers responded to a request that 36-year-old Jessica Spears be removed from a residence because she was in possession of drug paraphernalia. 

Spears was escorted out of the house and had a conversation with an officer. The officer brought a bag with him that Spears identified as hers. The officer told Spears that he was told she had paraphernalia and Spears gave the officer permission to retrieve it from her wallet.  

Inside Spears’s wallet, the officer located multiple hypodermic syringes and multiple pieces of burnt tin foil. One of the syringes had clear liquid inside, and the other two had a reddish fluid inside. According to court documents, Spears admitted that the fluid was methamphetamine.  

The officer asked Spears if she had any other dangerous drugs in her possession and she said she did not. The officer asked for permission to search Spears’s bags, which was granted. 

Spears then informed the officer that she had close to a quarter gram of methamphetamine and pointed to a small bag inside her purse. Spears identified the bag as her “fix kit,” and admitted to daily use of methamphetamine. The bag also contained a plastic container with two blue “M30” pills inside it. The officer recognized the pills to be counterfeit fentanyl pills and Spears also admitted to regular use of fentanyl.

Spears was placed under arrest and was transported to the Missoula County Detention Facility. Spears is currently being charged with two counts of felony criminal possession of dangerous drugs and criminal possession of drug paraphernalia. Her bond was set at $5,000.
