Missoula, MT (KGVO-AM News) - On March 20, 2025, at approximately 5:45 a.m., a Missoula County Sheriff’s Office deputy observed a GMC Acadia traveling northbound on Brooks Street. The GMC drifted over the fog line for a significant distance. The GMC then re-entered the roadway and drifted toward the left-lane line before making a right-hand turn onto McDonald Ave.

The deputy initiated a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, 38-year-old Jamie Cummings, and the passenger. Cummings exhibited a very dazed expression on her face, and her eyes were significantly bloodshot. Cummings stated that she recently picked her passenger up from a casino. Cummings denied consuming alcohol.

The deputy asked Cummings to exit the vehicle to perform field sobriety tests. Cummings denied smoking marijuana and claimed her eyes were red from crying all night. Cummings demonstrated 0 out of 6 clues of impairment on the HGN Test but demonstrated a lack of convergence in her right eye. According to court documents, Cummings admitted that she smoked marijuana "a few hours ago probably." She also demonstrated 5 out of 8 clues of impairment on the Walk-and-Turn Test and 3 out of 4 clues of impairment on the One-Leg Stand Test.

After being placed under arrest, Cummings told the deputy, "I'm not stoned right now." Based on his observations, the deputy read Cummings Implied Consent. Cummings refused to provide a blood sample, so the deputy transported her to the hospital to begin working on a warrant.

On the drive to the hospital, Cummings requested to go to jail. She asked, "Why do we have to go through all of this? Why can't you just like take me? It's a DUI. You got me." The deputy obtained a search warrant, and hospital staff withdrew a blood sample from Cummings. The she was transported to the Missoula County Detention Center.
