Missoula, MT (KGVO-AM News) - On August 22, 2025, at around 8:30 a.m., a Montana Highway Patrol trooper received a phone call from his sergeant. The sergeant said Probation and Parole (P&P) was requesting MHP’s assistance with arresting a probationer, 63-year-old Jerry Waddell.

P&P contacted the sergeant and told him this was a planned arrest. They had received reports that Waddell was possibly intoxicated on methamphetamine. Upon arrival, a P&P officer and the trooper found and detained Waddell at his residence in Clinton, Montana. Waddell was placed in the trooper’s patrol vehicle.

The trooper and sergeant documented the following evidence:

  • A baggie of a white crystalline substance
  • One Gabapentin pill
  • A pipe commonly used to ingest meth
  • A machete
  • A gun

The trooper looked through the pill bottles and could not find one that was labeled Gabapentin. The P&P officer located the pipe, which he recognized as being commonly used to ingest meth, in the drawer next to the bed.

Law enforcement located the machete above the front door. The P&P officer located the break-barreled pellet gun in the bathroom. Waddell also had a box of .38 special ammo in the living room.
