Missoula, MT (KGVO-AM News) - At approximately 12:22 p.m. on September 29, 2025, a Missoula County Sheriff’s Office Corporal was dispatched to a report of suspicious activity at a storage facility in the 2400 block of Michael Rd. Before responding, the corporal called and spoke with the manager. The manager said he had concerns with one of his customers and guests she had been having at her camper parked at the storage facility.

The manager said vehicles had been coming and going from the customer's trailer at all times of the day. The manager said the vehicles were all using the customer's pass code to enter the gate, they would stay for short periods of time, and then leave. The manager suspected drug activity and asked that deputies respond and remove anybody at the trailer other than the customer.

The manager described some of the vehicles and said the car showing up most often was a dark colored BMW passenger car. As the corporal was talking to the manager, he saw a dark colored BMW headed toward the storage facility with no front plate and a back plate dangling by one screw. The corporal told a deputy to go make a traffic stop on the car. The deputy said the driver of the BMW was a known drug offender whom he identified.

Law Enforcement Responds to the Camper

Then another deputy and the corporal entered the storage facility and went to the camper. The corporal knocked on the door, and the customer answered. She said 47-year-old Anthony Hummel was also inside, and he later came out. The corporal spoke with a detective who confirmed Hummel had been in possession of about an ounce of methamphetamine the night before.

The corporal called and spoke with a probation officer, who said he would respond. The PO arrived and asked for assistance with searching the camper. They located a tin with methamphetamine and a clear plastic bag of methamphetamine. Hummel agreed to speak with the corporal and admitted to shooting up meth intravenously.
