Important Water Main Replacement on South 14th Street
Starting June 15, weather permitting, South 14th Street, west of Russell, will undergo a significant water main replacement project. The work will take place west of Russell Street and is expected to last approximately 10 weeks.
According to Missoula Water, the project is part of its ongoing effort to replace aging infrastructure, reduce water loss from leaks, and maintain reliable water service for residents.
To help minimize disruptions, the traffic control plan is designed to maintain access for neighborhood residents, businesses, emergency responders, pedestrians, and school transportation whenever possible.
However, drivers should still expect impacts.

Phased Construction for Better Navigation
Construction will be completed in phases, allowing crews to focus on specific sections of the corridor while maintaining access where possible. Motorists should expect detours, changing traffic patterns, and increased traffic on nearby streets throughout the project.

With both state and city construction projects underway, Missoula drivers can expect a summer filled with road work, lane closures, and detours. Officials are reminding everyone to slow down, stay alert in construction zones, and help keep road crews safe while work is underway.
