Best Video Game Gift for Montana Gamers
If you have a gamer on your holiday shopping list and are stumped, this is an easy one.
Far Cry 5 is cheap right now, not just a small discount. It’s basically being given away. The game is usually around sixty bucks. But right now it’s at about $9. That’s cheaper than lunch. And unlike lunch, this will occupy someone for weeks.
And best of all is where the game takes place.
Montana.
Not fake Montana. Not Montana, that looks like Wyoming if you squint. Actual Montana energy.
That Fictional County Looks Familiar for a Reason
If you have ever driven through the Bitterroot, the Big Hole, or around the Flathead, you can recognize the open valleys. Long stretches of road. Mountains that kind of sit around and watch you. The fictional Hope County, MT looks eerily similar to all three of these regions of the state.
The game feels like it could be just beyond your windshield. Farms, rivers, back roads, and small towns. Then you throw a doomsday cult into the mix, and things get weird in a hurry.
I remember speaking with developers from Ubisoft in 2016. They were spending months driving around Montana and capturing images for the programmers to use to develop the game. Even down to the tiniest detail. Recognize the Clearwater Jct Steer?
Why This Is a No-Brainer Gift
This game is old now, and that’s part of what makes it such a good grab at this moment. It’s polished. It runs great. There’s a ton to do. And for that price, you’re getting a Montana-based Blockbuster game.
If you’ve got a teenager, a college kid, or that one adult in your family who huddles up all winter with video games, this is a strong choice. Especially if they are into shooters and or open world exploration, or anything that allows them to just roam around and maybe do some virtual huntin' and fishin'.
And if they are unaware of the game, they’re in for a treat.
Snap It Up Before the Price Rebounds
This sale doesn’t last forever. As soon as the holidays are over, the price typically snaps back right to normal. If you’re even considering it, now’s your moment.
Montana scenery. Explosions. Free to play as you like. For under ten bucks.
Thank me later.
