For several years, October has been the "sprinkle Pink" fundraising month for Marcus Daly Memorial Hospital's breast cancer mammogram services in Ravalli County. It ties in with national Breast Cancer Awareness Month. However, that account is well-funded. So, the hospital and the Daly Hospital Foundation have expanded the campaign to almost all cancers with the "Colors of Cancer." Different teams will be raising money for different types of cancer. For instance:

  • Pink - Breast Cancer
  • Orange - Leukemia
  • Dark Blue - Colorectal Cancer
  • Gold - Childhood Cancers
  • Black - Melanoma (skin cancer)
  • Yellow - Sarcoma (bone cancer)
  • Dark Green - Kidney Cancer
  • Gray - Brain Cancer
  • Sky Blue - Prostate Cancer
  • Purple - Pancreatic Cancer
  • Lavender - All Cancers
  • You can help any or all campaigns and the Color Team campaigns will run from October 1 to October 20. Ravalli County high schools will have "ball tosses" at football games and volleyball matches, The Hamilton Culture Crawl will include inspirational cancer-themed art quilts at Mikesells Fine Jewelry October 12. Evan's Ace Hardware will have a Pink Bull Round-up October 13. The Sprinkle Pink tennis tournament will be at the Canyons Athletic Club October 19-21, The Color of Cancer Celebration event at Canyons Athletic Club is October 20 and the Turn & Burn Barrel Race at the Sapphire Event Center in Corvallis is October 28.. Smaller fundraising projects will be popping up throughout October. Check the Marcus Daly Hospital website and on social media.
