The Missoula County Attorney’s Office filed 14 new criminal complaints this past week. On Monday morning, Deputy County Attorney Matt Jennings says they had 12 people in custody that were arrested the previous weekend.

“I don’t mean to be superstitious, but it was a full moon and maybe that had something to do with it,” Jennings said. “We ended up filing eight complaints on Monday and four of those were new violent crimes. There was a strangulation case. Those are something we try to focus more and more on in our office because the fear and control that can go on in those violent offenses is just something we don’t tolerate. We want to make sure people are safe and reach justice in those situations.”

Jennings says there was a criminal endangerment charge that involved a chase through the university district, resisting arrest and eluding law enforcement.

“We also had a burglary,” Jennings said. “We usually classify those as a property crime, but this particular burglary did also involve an assault on the home owner. We had three new drug cases. We also had one property crime, which was a forgery of some checks that were stolen from a business. We had one case of failure to register as a sex offender.”

According to Jennings, they also charged five felony DUI offenses.
