Clerk and Customer Shot in Missoula Store, Police Searching for Two Suspects
Shots were fired in Missoula this morning around 3:48 a.m. at a convenience store in the 2400 block of South Higgins, near the UM Soccer Fields. According to Missoula Police Public Information officer Travis Welsh, a store clerk and a customer were shot.
“Officers learned that two suspects had entered the store, one of them brandishing a firearm,” Welsh said. “They also learned that two individuals had been shot. The two suspects fled the store on foot prior to officer’s arrival and both male victims were taken to the hospital for treatment: one was treated and release, the other’s condition is unknown at this time, one was a clerk in the store at the time, the other is believed to be a customer.”
The victim that was released was conscious and able to give police a description of the assailants.
“One suspect was described as being taller than six feet, muscular and wearing a dark-colored hoodie, the other suspect was described as shorter, also wearing a dark hoodie and brandishing a firearm,” Welsh said. “If anyone has information to identify the suspects or otherwise help in the investigation, please call Detective Ben Slater at 552-6282 or Detective Mitch Lang at 552-6292.”
Police are also trying to piece together why the shooting occurred, Welsh says reports so far indicate that the shooter didn’t make any demands.
