Bitterroot Outdoor Journal – Beauty Abounds!

KLYQ's Bitterroot Outdoor Journal highlighted some of the "sunny day" features of the valley with host Bob Danley. We're enjoying the return of dragonflies - and there are quite a few varieties in Western Montana. The Dot-tailed Whiteface is one of them (see photo above) Then, look for Butterflies out and about - including Arctic Skipper, Western Tiger Swallowtail, Common Alpine, Moss Elfin (Up to 21 species detected so far this year).

Wildflowers are happenin'! You can see Bicolor Biscuitroot, Fuzzytongue Penstemon, Roundleaf Alumroot, Showy Jacob's Ladder and the wild shrubs are in flower including Buckbrush, Ninebark, Mountain Gooseberry (see photo below), and Thimbleberry. Of course, lots of birds including 192 species so far in the Bitterroot Valley. Migration is pretty much complete.
