The Bitterroot Community Band, a group of talented volunteer musicians, will be "serenading the sunset" Thursday, July 11, at the band shell on the northeast corner of Hamilton's Claudia Driscoll Park. Director Jeremy Ruff has an interesting set of music - from traditional marches to movie music. The show starts at 7 p.m. and is free to the public.

By the way, the band's annual Strawberry Shortcake fundraiser is scheduled for July 25 at the Daly Mansion grounds. The group will be joined by a few Missoula musicians and they'll set up on the lawn just south of the mansion, under the trees, at 7 p.m. There is a small admission charge for this concert, which includes the opportunity to buy a serving or two of homemade strawberry shortcake at intermission. You're invited to come early, bring a picnic and enjoy the whole evening. Money raised helps pay for sheet music and transportation costs for the organization. The Bitterroot Community Band will also be at Stevensville's Creamery Picnic and the Ravalli County Fair in Hamilton.
