Another week, another closure of a popular Missoula location thanks to a positive case of COVID-19.

It's become a pretty common thing recently to hear about your favorite spots in Missoula having to shut down for at least a few days thanks to COVID. The first time it happened, I remember being shocked. Now, it's something that you just sort of expect.

And the latest location to be affected by it is the Black Cat Bake Shop, located on Broadway. They announced their closure on Facebook over the weekend.

The good news is that the employee who contracted COVID is recovering and, according to the post, is doing well. In the meantime, they're cleaning the shop and making sure everybody on the staff is getting tested before they are able to reopen. There's no timeframe on when exactly that will be, but their post says they're following the guidelines of the health department and plan to "serve you baked goods very soon."

COVID numbers in Missoula and throughout Montana haven't been improving, and with all the Thanksgiving travel that just took place, we can likely expect the pandemic to get worse before it really gets better. Even though the first vaccines are set to arrive this month, it's going to take a while before they can be distributed enough to put an end to this.

So in the meantime, wear a mask, practice social distancing, avoid travel and large groups. The only way we'll get through this is if we do it together (I mean, we're apart, but together in spirit).
