It's a magical tale of sugar plum fairies, toy soldiers and mice. Toss into the mix a Snow Queen and King, a few adults, a whole bunch of little kids and a nutcracker ... mix well with some dance magic and you've got a ballet called The Nutcracker.

The local Ballet Bitterroot Dance Academy has brought their local production of the Christmas tale back to the Hamilton High School Performing Arts Center this year, under the direction of Courtney Ratliff. A large cast of dancers with Amanda Boelman as the Sugar Plum Fairy will fill the stage Friday, December 6, at 7 p.m. and Saturday, December 7, afternoon at 2 p.m. Admission is $18 for adults and $12 for kids. You can grab tickets ahead of time online at the Ballet Bitterroot website or at the door.
