Given the recent wetness we’ve been so fortunate to have lately, I decided to look at it positively rather than negatively because it seems as though it’s going to stick around for a while. So, here are some creative, and not so creative, ways I’ve come up with to make it through rainy season in Missoula.

Put on your rubber boots and jump in the biggest mud puddle you can find. I don’t know if I’ve ever had more fun than when I’ve done this with my boys. It’s so much fun that you don’t mind getting soaking wet and filthy dirty.

Go for a nice long run. I know it might seem like a terrible thing to do, but running in the rain makes you feel alive. The movement keeps you warm, while the rain cools you down and the wind in your face makes the perfect storm for the senses.

Catch raindrops on your tongue. This should be a pretty easy thing to do in a downpour, but it is more fun to do when it’s sprinkling out. It can be a really challenging, but it is also really fun.

Sing in the rain. I know this seems kind of dumb, but if you’re one of those people (like me) who sings in the shower, well then why not? You may get weird looks from strangers, but you shouldn’t worry unless you’re singing naked (like in the shower) then that would make it awkward for everyone.

Run really quickly from your car to the house, or from a building to your car, because you forgot your umbrella.
