You Can’t Win the Lottery With Drug Money

What are the odds? Forget the long odds of even winning 50 grand. Consider the odds of losing it back.

But Associated Press says that's what happened to a lucky/unlucky lottery winner in Illinois, whose winnings were reclaimed by the state because she used drug money to buy the ticket. Police found the winning ticket during a raid at the house where Tykisha Lofton lived with her boyfriend. He's doing time for drug dealing among other offenses.

A lower court had ruled that Tykisha should get to keep the dough, but a state appeals court overturned that decision, leaving the state with $50,000 in house money to play with. Party in the judge's chambers, everybody!   DB
