A Missoula police officer experienced a rare incident early Saturday morning, after a woman pulled herself over to the side of the road and turned herself in. Missoula Police Public Information officer Travis Welsh explains.

"At about 3:05 a.m. an officer was traveling in the 1600 block of Rodgers Street when up ahead he observed a vehicle approaching him from the opposite direction," Welsh said. "The vehicle pulled to the side of the road and stopped. However, the headlights remained on as well as a turn signal. The officer continued to approach and he observed a woman get out of the drivers seat. She approached him and handed him her keys."

It appears she was driving under the influence of alcohol and posing a risk not only to herself and an adult passenger, but also two children.

"The officer got out and began to investigate," Welsh said. "He noticed a little boy and a little girl age five and four respectively. The officer investigated further and subsequently arrested 24-year-old Mary Bremner at a Missoula resident for the offense of DUI and also for criminal child endangerment."

Bremner had an outstanding warrant for her arrest and was also charged for driving with a suspended license. The children were placed in the care of a family member while Bremner was taken to the Missoula jail.
